【活動報告】
2019年2月6日、Universal Eventというタイトルで、小学生に向けてシッティングバレー体験会を行いました。
横浜市にある小学校と、リクルート所属の田澤選手を含む4名の千葉パイレーツの選手と協力し合いながら作り上げたこのイベントは、私たちKEIO 2020 projectが当イベントの目標として掲げた”未来を担う小学生が、障がい者スポーツおよび障がいを持つ方々への理解を深めていくこと”、”地域全体のパラスポーツへの関心を高め、盛り上げていくこと”をまさに体現した企画となったと感じています。
本番に先立ち小学校で行った練習会では、小学生たちの意欲的な姿勢に我々も刺激を受けました。
当日は小学生約100名が参加。みんなで一斉にお尻をついたまま動くという準備運動をしたのち、4つのグループに分かれての試合を実施。待ち時間は空いたスペースで自発的に練習するなど、小学生の皆さんが本当にシッティングバレーというスポーツを楽しんでいる様子が何度も見受けられました。
最後の質疑応答の際には、手を挙げてくれた小学生全員を時間内にあてることができないほど積極的に質問が上がりました。競技自体についての質問はもちろん、田澤選手や佐藤選手がつけていた義足についての純粋な疑問もたくさん上がりました。小学生の皆さんが純粋にスポーツを楽しむ中で、普段あまり触れる機会のない義足というものについて理解を深めていこうとする姿が印象的でした。
お越しいただいた選手の一人、佐藤選手はアテネパラリンピックに出場経験もある選手です。短い時間でしたが当時のお話を聞くこともでき、そういった面でも我々の今後の活動に生かしていきたいと思っています。
また、本イベントは株式会社リクルート様、および開催小学校との共催という形で東京2020参画プログラムにも認定されました。東京2020参画プログラムは、
”東京2020大会の大会ビジョンのもと、スポーツだけでなく、文化芸術や地域での世代を越えた活動、被災地への支援など、参加者自らが体験・行動し、未来につなぐプログラム”として公式に認定されるものです。これにより、本イベントはKEIO 2020 projectにとって重要なマイルストーンの一つとなりました。

【Activity Report】
On February 6th, 2019, there was an event named Universal Event, which was a sitting volleyball trial for elementary school students.
We believe that this event, which was organized together by an elementary school in Yokohama and four players from Chiba Pirates including Mr.Tazawa who belongs to Recruit, embodied our goals. The goals which we, the KEIO 2020 project members, held up were that elementary school students, who bear the future, enrich their understanding for disabled sports and disabled people, and that we raise awareness of and liven up Para-sports among local people.
During our practice gathering in advance at the elementary school, we were surprised to see how enthusiastic the students were towards the event. Around one hundred students joined the actual event. Students firstly executed a unique warm-up exercise which required them to move around while having the pelvis in contact with the floor. Then, they were separated into four groups to participate in a game. We felt that they were enjoying sitting volleyball, seeing students practice it in an open space while waiting for their turn to play.
In the end when we held a question and answer session, there were so many students with questions for the athletes that we did not have enough time to cover them all. Questions were not only about the competition itself, but also there were lots of questions about the prosthetic legs that athletes Mr.Tazawa and Mr.Sato were wearing. It was impressive that they all tried to cultivate a deeper understanding about prosthetic legs, which they had little chance to get familiar with in their daily lives.
One of the athletes that we invited to this event, Mr.Sato participated in the Athens Paralympic Games in 2004. We were able to interview many athletes with limited time. We would like to make a good use of this for next events.
This event in cooperation with Recruit Co., Ltd. and the elementary school was certified as Tokyo 2020 Participation Programme. The Tokyo 2020 Participation Programme is certified officially as “a program in which participants themselves experience and act in the way of not only sports but also cultural arts, regional activities beyond generations and the support of the disaster-affected areas to connect them to the future under the vision of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As a result, this event has become one of the important milestones for KEIO 2020 project.
