【活動報告】
2018年8月17日、カナダの名門British Columbia大学野球部と慶應義塾大学体育会野球部の親善試合が行われました。その後、British Columbia 大学（以下BC大）の野球部員の皆さんに日本文化に触れ、楽しみながら両校の親睦を深めてもらうために、私たちKEIO 2020 projectが企画した交流プログラムが開催されました。
試合を終えたBC大の選手たちは2020メンバーとともにスイカ割りを体験。BC大の選手の皆さんは持ち前のパワーとバランスで思いっきりスイカを叩いて楽しんでくれたようでした。
午後からは両校の簡単な紹介を行った後、両校の野球部員混合の６チームに分かれ両大学についてのクイズや伝言ゲームを開催。徐々に選手の皆さんがお互いに冗談を言い合うなど打ち解けてきたところで、慶應義塾大学の日本舞踊サークルの方々による日本舞踊を鑑賞しました。その後はBC大の皆さんに日本文化に触れて楽しんでもらうため様々なブースを体験してもらいました。ブースは主に、BC大の部員の皆さんに自分の名前を筆で書いてもらう書道ブース、ストラックアウトゲームブース、射的やけん玉を体験するブース、そして簡単な日本舞踊の動きを体験したり浴衣を着たりできる日本舞踊ブースの4つ。野球部員同士だけでなく私たち2020メンバーとも交流を深めることができました。
実際に文化交流のイベントを企画するのは今回が初めてでしたが、多くの反省点はもちろん、今回BC大の選手の方々に楽しんでもらえたという自信も忘れずに、KEIO 2020 projectの今後の活動に生かしていきたいと思います。
【Activity Report】
On August 17, 2018, a friendly match was held between The University of British Columbia Baseball Team and Keio University Baseball Club. After that, there was an exchange program, which we KEIO 2020 project had organized so that the UBC Baseball Team members can enjoy Japanese culture as well as deepen their friendship with Keio University Baseball Club members outside of the baseball field.
The UBC baseball team members participated in watermelon splitting, called “suikawari” in Japanese, with KEIO 2020 project members. The UBC Baseball Team members seemed to have great fun, hitting the watermelons with the strength and balance they have.
In the afternoon, we introduced ourselves with each other and after that, separated into six groups to do quizzes and telephone game. Once the ice had broken among the members , UBC students then watched classical Japanese dance called “nihonbuyo” performed by a nihonbuyo club at Keio. UBC students then enjoyed several activities that KEIO 2020 project members had prepared for them to experience Japanese culture. In the calligraphy booth, UBC students wrote their names with “fude,” a writing brush. In the nihonbuyo booth, students were able to experience how to wear the kimono and dance nihonbuyo. There were also struck-out, kendama, and shateki booths where UBC students were able to experience the atmosphere of an “en-nichi,” which is a traditional summer festival in Japan. Through this program, we were not only able to create a strong tie between the UBC and Keio baseball members, but also with KEIO 2020 project members as well.
This program was actually our first time to host a cultural exchange event. Even though there are some improvements to make, we have to be confident of what we have succeeded in doing and we hope to utilize this experience in our future activities.
