【活動報告】
11/5(月)に慶應義塾大学大学院システムデザイン・マネジメント研究科(SDM)の学生と交流会を行いました。SDMでは「システムデザイン・マネジメント実習(講師:神武直彦教授)」という授業の中で「オリンピック・パラリンピックボランティアを支援するシステムをデザインする」というテーマに取り組んでいます。KEIO 2020 projectは今回の交流を事前キャンプに向けた通訳練習の機会として捉え、オランダ、中国、フィリピン、フランスからの国際色豊かなSDM学生とザンビアからの博士学生のティーチングアシスタントにKEIO 2020のメンバーが1人ずつつき、代表の稲見先生が日本語で話すKEIO 2020の活動内容や組織構造について英語に逐次通訳していきました。KEIO 2020 projectとしては初めての通訳を練習する機会でもありました。日常生活では使用しないオリンピック・パラリンピック関連用語を通訳することが難しい箇所がいくつかありました。この反省から、私たちはオリパラ頻出単語リストの作成を開始しています。このような機会を通じて通訳を経験していき、メンバー全員の通訳の質の向上を図っていきたいと考えています。
【Activity Report】
On November 5th, there was an exchange meeting with students in Graduate School of System Design and Management from Keio University (SDM). In SDM, students are working on the theme of “the way to design a system to support Olympic and Paralympic volunteers” in a class called “Practice of System Design and
Management (by Professor Naohiko Kohtake)”. We utilized this opportunity to strengthen our interpretation skills for the pre-Games preparation camp of Team GB. Each member from KEIO 2020 project paired up with a SDM student from Netherlands, China, Philippines, and France and a PhD student from Zambia and interpreted into English what Assistant Professor Inami, our representative said in Japanese, such as the activity reports and descriptions on the internal structure of KEIO 2020 project. This exchange meeting was actually our first opportunity to practice interpretation. It was challenging for us to use some Olympic and Paralympic-related terms that we barely use in our daily lives. Learning from this, we have started to make a list of words that are frequently used in the context of the Olympics and Paralympics. Through this opportunity, we would like to improve our interpretation skills.
