    About Class Registration

    I got a 2 (or 3) on my health check-up. Can I take physical education classes?
    A

    For classes offered at Hiyoshi, please apply at the Hiyoshi Office of Student Services, Academic Affairs Group.
    For classes offered at Mita, please apply at the Mita Office of Student Services, Academic Affairs Group.。

    Are there any restrictions on course registration?
    A

    This depends on the affiliated faculty and department. Please check the course registration guide of your affiliated faculty and department.

    I would like to earn a teaching license. What classes should I take?
    A

    Two credits are required for physical education, one of which must be for practical physical education class.

    The remaining credit may be selected from lectures, seminars, or practical physical education classes. For further details, please check the Keio University Teacher Training Center website or the Teacher Training Course Guide.

    Can I take additional physical education classes?
    A

    Classes allowing additional applications will be posted on the Keio University Student Website. As the information may be updated at any time, please be sure to check posts in advance when registering for courses.

    I will not be able to pay the activity fees on time. What should I do?
    A

    Please speak with the General Affairs and Inquiries Section in the Hiyoshi Office of Student Services.

    I cannot find physical education classes on the course application page.
    A

    The course application screen only displays classes for your affiliated faculty. To display physical education classes, please select “Institute of Physical Education” (体育研究所) as the faculty and department when searching for timetables.

    I will not be able to get the annual health check-up in time for the first lesson. What should I do?
    A

    Those participating in practical physical education classes are expected to have undergo the annual health check-up within the stipulated deadline. As the first week and the check-up period overlap, one may not have gotten a check-up in time for the first lesson, depending on the day of the week; please attend the first lesson nonetheless. If there have been any matters in past health check-ups that should be considered or if you are concerned about the intensity of the exercise or anything else, please discuss this with the teacher-in-charge during the first lesson.

    I missed the Annual Health Checkup. Can I take physical education classes?
    A

    All students have to undergo an annual health checkup to take practical physical education classes. If you have missed the annual health checkup, please schedule one at an external medical institution. Please note that students will be responsible for the cost. Please see here for details.

    About Lessons

    Q
    The classes before physical education classes always finish right on time or a little late because of experiments; consequently, I may not be perfectly on time for my physical education lessons. Can I still take them?
    A

    Please discuss this with the teacher-in-charge.

    The class after physical education class is held at a building that is quite far away, and I am worried about being late if I have to go there after getting changed. Could you finish a little earlier to give time for changing?

    A

    If available, please use contact details listed in the syllabus to reach the teacher. If no contact details are listed, please inquire with the Institute of Physical Education.

    It is generally not necessary to notify teachers of absences.

    I was absent because of a match for my sporting club. Will I be given consideration?

    Classes are held outdoors, but what happens when it rains?
    A

    Lessons could possibly be held in a classroom during the inclement weather. Please check the syllabus beforehand. For classes held at Hiyoshi, any changes in venue will be posted on the Institute of Physical Education website.https://ipe.hc.keio.ac.jp/en/ For classes held at Mita, please check the syllabus beforehand and clarify any questions you may have with the teacher during the first lesson.
